GE Appliance says users can turn the air conditioner on and off and adjust the temperature through Apple’s Home app. HomeKit also allows users to create “scenes,” so you can use the air conditioner in combination with other HomeKit-compatible products. The air conditioners work similarly with Alexa and Google Assistant, the latter featuring over 1,500 products in its library of smart home appliances, including LG and Frigidaire ACs already sold in the US.
GE Appliance also offers a separate Appliances Comfort App that lets you to set the temperature or create “cooling schedules” independent of Apple’s, Amazon’s, or Google’s smart home platforms. You can also use the app to remotely shut off the AC if you forget after leaving the house, or turn it on when you’re about to return.
Prices for the models differ depending on the size of the unit, whether they come with heating capabilities, a remote control, or other features. The prices for the units available from Home Depot are: AEC08LX at $229, AEC10AX at $289, and AEC12AX at $329. The AHP08LX is $269 and the AHP10LX is $329 and both are available from Lowe’s.
